Top Breakfast Spots in Hobart

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day so before you head out to MONA, join in the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race celebrations, or set off for Bruny Island for some penguin spotting, fuel up at one of favourite breakfast spots in Hobart.

The Holm Oak team is often out and about in Hobart and we’ve done the hard work for you to highlight the great places to sit back, unwind and start your day. While Saturday mornings are famous for the Salamanca Market, there’s also some fabulous local café’s to keep you fed and hydrated – good coffee guaranteed!

Born in Brunswick

Passionate about coffee, Born in Brunswick offers blend and single-origin espresso as well as batch brew and filter coffee. As for the food, don’t expect your usual bacon and eggs here, the all-day brunch menu is as creative as it is delicious. With innovative dishes, such as butter-poached crab, curry scramble, house-made crumpet, radish and fragrant herbs, we suggest more than one visit. There is a kids’ menu, too, which they’ll love as much as you do.

Room for a Pony

Breakfast is served until 3pm in this funky café that becomes a cosy bar at night serving up wood-fired pizzas. The breakfast menu runs from traditional offerings of granola and eggs benedict to Asian influenced dishes such as chicken and ginger congee and Chinese fried chilli omelette. There is a ‘Hair of the Dog’ section on the menu, too, if you fancy a Bloody Mary or Mimosa. The coffee is worth stopping by for even if you don’t want to eat.

Speaking of coffee, they brew up Ritual Espresso from Launceston. Order one while you choose from granola, omelette, tartine, sliders and more. Pop in from 7:30am to 1:30pm.

There are also 8 egg dishes to make the choosing process even more confusing! You may be tempted to stay on for lunch, which starts at 11:30am.

After a good breakfast, why not hit the road and take a drive towards Launceston and visit our cellar door? It’s a scenic two-and-a-half-hour drive from Hobart and makes for a good day trip if you are basing yourself in the capital.
