2009 Pig & d' Pooch Moscato
Winemaking Notes
The fruit for this wine – the premium Muscat variety, Muscat a Petit Grains - was hand picked in Nyah, Victoria at 12.5 Be, before being transported to Tasmania by refrigerated transport on both truck and boat. Upon arrival at the winery in Tasmania (approximately 36 hours after picking) half of the fruit was immediately de-stemmed, crushed and pressed. The remaining half was de-stemmed and crushed and was left in the press for 8 hours for skin contact to extract some colour and spice flavours from the skins. After racking the juice was cool fermented with a neutral yeast. The fermentation was stopped at 5 Be by chilling the ferment. The wine was then stabilised filtered and bottled with light carbonation.
$22.00 per bottle
Tasting Notes
This is a refreshing and complex Moscato. The nose shows the classic floral and musk stick aromas that this variety is known for, but also has added spice flavours as a result of the extra skin contact.
